DISTANT RELATIVES COMING TOGETHER…
Circumstances always play a large part in how people meet. It happened in 2015, Dianna Daniel Robinson decided to attend our family reunion in Atlanta. In Atlanta, Dianna met her distant cousin Dennis Hill and their girls Breanna Hill and Brooke Robinson also met. Breanna was already a student at North Carolina A&T University and Brooke was making plans to begin her freshman year there. This reunion brought them together and they had a chance to meet again when Dianna visited Chicago for her sorority’s conference (AKA). Dianna thanks Breanna for making Brooke’s transition to college much easier.
Breanna’s great grandfather and Brooke’s great grandmother were sister and brother. (Carey Hill and Ola Hill Daniel).

JASON DOZIER (Cousin Syl’s son) IS STILL IN THE RACE FOR CITY COUNCIL IN ATLANTA, GA.!
Dear Family and Friends,
To say that I am humbled right now is a huge understatement. I'm honored to announce that we've forced Councilmember Cleta Winslow into a runoff for the first time in her entire 24-year City Council career. All year long we've talked about the historic nature of this race, and I'm truly thankful for our voters who helped make that a reality.
I'm also thankful for our opponents. So many people stepped up and took the plunge because our communities deserve so much better. Our conversations, dialogues, and debates these last few months have made me a stronger candidate and a better person, and I look forward to working together to build a better Atlanta.
And finally, I'm thankful for all of you, because none of this would have been possible without each and every one of you. Since we started, we've knocked on more than 7,000 doors, called more than 2,000 voters, and committed more than 1,000 volunteer hours. We're still recalibrating for the run-off election on December 5th, but I wanted to personally thank all of you for your continued support over this past year.
Unfortunately, our work is not yet done. With less than four weeks until the next election, I need your continued support. I know many of you have donated your time and your treasure to get us to where we are today, but can I count you again these next few weeks?
More than 4,500 people voted in District 4 last night, and it will take a lot of work to reach each of these voters again.
Game on.
Jason

NOVEMBER: JOKE OF THE MONTH
Sr. Citizen Response…
Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with those expensive, double-pane, energy-efficient kind.
Today, I got a call from Home Depot who installed them. The caller complained that the work had been completed a year ago and I still hadn't paid for them.
Well just because I'm a Senior Citizen doesn't mean that I am automatically mentally challenged.
So, I told him just what his fast-talking sales guy told me last year -- that these windows would pay for themselves in a year.
It's been a year, so they're paid for, I told him.
There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally hung up.
He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.
NOVEMBER: QUOTE OF THE MONTH

Here's a preview of the press release we sent out:
Atlanta, Georgia - February 8, 2017 Jason Dozier, an Atlanta native, non-profit executive, Iraq and Afghanistan veteran, and community activist became the top fundraiser in the highly contentious race for Atlanta City Council District 4, a district which encompasses some of south Atlanta's most historic neighborhoods. Dozier reported raising $36,109 in the first quarter of the race. As of the time of this press release, incumbent Cleta Winslow had not posted a report for the same period. Thus far, the closest competitor has raised only $600. In addition to being the probable top fundraiser this period, Dozier raised more than Winslow’s previous two competitors over their entire campaigns.
"We are honored by the support our Atlanta City Council campaign has received, but this is just the beginning," the Mechanicsville activist promised. "We still have nine months of hard campaigning ahead of us. We look forward to running a positive campaign focused on the issues families and small businesses are most concerned about."
Jason Dozier is an Atlanta native and lives in the Mechanicsville community with his wife, Claire. He earned his Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Georgia and currently works as a director at a non-profit helping veterans find employment after transitioning from military. Jason served in the Army as a reconnaissance officer in both Iraq and Afghanistan, earning the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal as a result. In addition to his professional work with military veterans, Jason serves as a community advocate in the Mechanicsville neighborhood and in Neighborhood Planning Unit V.
Atlanta City Council District 4 encompasses the neighborhoods of Castleberry Hill, Mechanicsville, Ashview Heights, Just Us, West End, Bush Mountain, Oakland City, Venetian Hills, and Mozley Park.
